Giuseppe Malpasso BIO
Born 1972 in Lentini, Italy, Giuseppe began his career as a filmmaker in Rome in 1990. Inspired by Directors Peter Greenaway and Michelangelo Antonioni as well as photographers Edward Steichen and Robert Frank, Giuseppe collaborated with major Italian networks such as RAI (Italian National Broadcast Company), Mediaset, Sky Italia, LA7, and MTV-Italy.
Since he moved to New York City in 2004, Giuseppe has incessantly been reporting from all over the planet soon establishing himself as the author of award-winning and internationally broadcasted documentaries. As director of photography, he has been featured on networks such as: RTL (Europe’s largest TV network based in Germany), MTV (England), National Geographic International, TSI (Switzerland), Seven Network (Australia), and TVNZ (New Zealand).
Among his more remarkable works are: Peppino Impastato, A Man a Doctrine (Documentary, 2002); Moderna (Documentary, 2003); Carlo Maderno, The Emergency of Baroque (Documentary, 2004); Friendly Fire (Documentary, 2007), We Are the Future (Musical, 2004); Blackout (Feature Movie, 2008 with Golden Globe Winner Jeffrey Wright Manchurian Candidate, Casino Royale; Tribeca Film Festival of New York); Last Stop (Documentary – 2009); Pesci Rossi in New York (Musical, 2009); Ward 54 (Documentary directed by Monica Maggioni, Venice Film Festival 2011); Dante Ferretti: Production Designer (Documentary featuring Martin Scorsese and Julie Taymore and Harvey Weinstein; Venice Film Festival 2011).
In 2008, Giuseppe covered much of the Presidential Campaign in America, with live photography from the major events of the President Barack Obama campaign.
Giuseppe is recipient of the Best Cinematography Golden Panda Award at the Sichuan TV Festival in China for his documentary Last Stop.
